Sustainability

Sustainability Strategy

"Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

-The Brundtland Commission definition from 1987

The ‘World Conservation Strategy’ (IUCN, UNE’P and WWF, 1980) broadly promulgated the concept of sustainable development, in the early 1980s( although had appeared in 1970) which called for the maintenance of essential ecological processes; the preservation of biodiversity; and sustainable use of species and ecosystems. We believe that sustainability is not just a job it is of respecting the environment. No one, at this age, or in the future should be treated unfairly. Everybody has the right to a healthy, clean, and safe environment and this can be achieved by reducing pollution, poverty, poor housing, and unemployment.
The essence of this form of development is a stable relationship between human activities and the natural world, which does not diminish the prospects for future generations to enjoy a quality of life at least as good as our own. Global environmental threats, such as climate change and poor air quality must be reduced to protect human and environmental health. Sustainable development aims to balance our economy, environmental and social needs, allowing prosperity for now and future generations Natural resources are things we depend on in our everyday lives. We have a responsibility to stand up and take responsibility and save the resource before they are all gone

Society, culture, environment, and economy – are four dimensions of sustainable development that are entwined. The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to target and resolve the challenges we’re facing on the planet to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

The UN set the 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals in 2015 to achieve them in the next ten years (2030), and the Goals are-

  1. No Poverty
  2. No Hunger
  3. Promoting Good Health And Well-Being
  4. Quality Education
  5. Gender Equality
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation
  7. Affordable and Clean Energy
  8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
  9. Industry Innovation and infrastructure
  10. Reduced inequalities
  11. Sustainable communities
  12. Responsible consumption and production
  13. Climate action
  14. Caring for life below water
  15. Caring for life on land
  16. Peace Justice and strong institutions
  17. Strengthening global partnership for sustainable development.

We hope that this collaborative approach allows us to support the United Nations in developing the most complete and up-to-date sources for tracking global progress to 2030. COVID-19 pandemic is an eye-opener and an alarm to timely adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle for sustainable development.

Here are our four reasons to invest in a sustainable development program from ground zero:-

  1. For the betterment of the environment.
  2. To improve our bottom line.
  3. To make healthier and safer working conditions for our employees.
  4. To be positioned in a competitive advantage.

The natural law is that if we exit then it shows that our environment, the flora, and the fauna must also exist. Again if they exist then their shelter, the earth must also exist. Again if the earth exists then the universe must also exist and it is ever-expanding. It is all about maintaining this equilibrium and coordination. Live and Let Live is our guiding compass. The relationship between man and the environment began with human creation. The environment provides the requirements for growth and life process; and organisms, through their activities, bring forth changes in their environment; a flux is maintained between the two components. Persons living in a community may exhibit the four types of relationships, like,1/ exploration 2/ competition 3/ neutralism 4/ mutualism. Among the four different kinds of relationships, mutualism is supposed to be the best because, in this type of relationship, both individuals benefit each other and neither is harmed. Man”s very existence depends on others. But nowadays, instead of becoming mutually helpful, man has become a great hurdle in the progress and development of others. The urge to make the environment grow invites one’s own good. The environment is, undoubtedly, a great nurturing agent. Without this ecosystem and the ability of Earth to support life, humans might very well cease to exist.

At JACOBIN the sense of Giving Tuesday ignites us to undertake a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity based on a benevolent desire to improve human welfare and to develop harmonious relationships with others. Human wants to live and grow, so he wishes to make the environment congenial for their proper growth by resisting evil and establishing good. So to live and let others live, one has to imbibe a proper understanding of the environment.

We hope that this collaborative approach allows us to support the United Nations in developing the most complete and up-to-date sources for tracking global progress to 2030. The covid 19 pandemic is an eye-opener and an alarm to timely adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle for sustainable development. World Environmental Education Day is celebrated on 26 January.
